My client has a fantastic opportunity for a talented Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our 3rd line support team working on a major government project, supporting Windows 2003 and Citrix 4.5.
• Provide remote 3rd line support to the user base of approximately 20000, for both Incident and Problem management activities.
•Receive Incidents passed from Service Desk/2nd Line support teams and address calls relating to Windows infrastructure components, including Citrix and Thin Client calls in line with OLAs and contractual SLAs.
•Own assigned Incidents throughout their entire lifecycle and ensure regular updates.
•Take responsibility for investigating the root cause of Major Incidents and Problems in line with SLAs and OLAs. Develop estate-wide strategies for resolution where appropriate.
•Take responsibility for risk assessing and implementing Change Controls and Requests for Service for any and all modifications to the technical infrastructure or applications.
•Take responsibility for ensuring the stability of the supported server infrastructure.
•Interface with and provide support to the Trust IT teams.
•Act as an escalation point for other Infrastructure Engineers.
•Develop and maintain relationships with third party suppliers, hardware and software vendors.
•Comply with all relevant NPS Security Policies.
• In addition to all the technical experience and skills below it is essential that you will be an excellent communicator, experienced at delivery service excellent in a client facing role.
•Strong experience of ITIL and working to ITIL principles, ideally in an enterprise environment. ITIL foundation certification preferred.
•Strong technical Microsoft skills, including:-
•Excellent knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and Windows 2003/2008 Server & Advanced Server.
•MCSE preferred with several years’ experience.
•Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy administration, ideally in an enterprise environment.
•Good knowledge of VMWare 3.5 and 5.0.
•Good knowledge of LANs and WANs.
•Good experience with Remote Access solutions.
•Working knowledge of NetApp or other File Header solution.
•Experience with using Helpdesk Management systems, ideally HP Service Desk.
•McAfee ePO solution.
The successful candidates will be required to obtain clearance to SC level.
