My client is an exciting Data Solutions Company based in Liverpool City Centre and they are currently looking to source an Application Support Engineer to join the Liverpool team on a permanent basis.

Purpose:
*Responsible for the installation, configuration, implementation and on-going management of all Applications to meet the diverse needs of the business.
*Ownership of all applications that enable the delivery of client services
*Monthly and annual appraisals based on service performance and requirements
*End to end knowledge of business work flows
*End to end knowledge of applications from installation and on-going support to service improvement
*Providing 2nd and 3rd Line support services to the client community (including out of hours cover via on-call agreement 1 week in 3)
*Documentation of Application services provided to clients

Main Accountabilities:

*Follow the business incident and problem reporting procedure for all issues identified.
*Follow the business Change Request process
*Work to resolve issues or deal with requests appertaining to client applications.
*Create and implement application installation policies, guidelines, standards and procedures.
*Ensure that accurate and detailed processes and procedures are in place to sustain the IT services and business processes, including but not limited to:
*Service Catalogue (Client Solutions)
*Documented Application workflow
*Application knowledge and support
*Availability Management (client services)
*Capacity Management (client services)
*Understand, deliver, configure and manage applications to ensure that the business can function against a defined set of service level requirements.
*Ensure that all IT service and security risks are clearly understood, accepted and mitigated and signed off by the appropriate IT and Business management
*Ensure appropriate practices and procedures are in place regarding suitability of the technical infrastructure for each application
*Provide application specific knowledge for testing of infrastructure, software or business workflow changes (Client apps only)
*Act as point-of-contact for back office applications (e.g. Optimus) between users and any third party support operations.
*Carry out audits of security controls and procedures (relevant to the application) to ensure they remain appropriate as the business changes
•Manage the documentation and review process to ensure all technical and business process documents are appropriate and up to date
•Define and produce reports in a timely manner to show the status of service provision
•Provide guidance and advice to the business and technology teams to allow informed business decisions on future plans and requirements for client applications.
•Provide guidance and transition services as part of technical projects on client applications
•Environment Management for services in Prod control

Skills & Experience
*Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT Technical Support role or 2 in a specifically Applications based role
Essential:
*Incident and problem management procedures (following ITIL work flow)
*Application install, configuration and implementation
*Proficient in the use of Windows/Linux/Unix (in particular Red Hat Linux)
*Experience of working with databases i.e. MySQL or MS SQL
*Writing technical documentation on the installation and use ofapplications
*Experience of writing technical documentation for architectural, peer or senior management review
*Experience in developing requirements for monitoring of applications
*Experience of scheduling applications
*Ability to demonstrate the synergy between business service and software application.
*Ability to write scripts to initiate defined activities
Desirable (but not essential):
*Experience of scheduling applications
*Experience in the use of J2EE containers
*Demonstrate understanding of HTML and/or JavaScript
*Application design and delivery of solutions
*Experience in the use of Reporting tools and creation
*Experience in the use of Oracle 10/11g Database
*Experience in the use of Oracle OEM
*Experience in the use of other Infrastructure and Application monitoring tools
*Experience in the use of Java programming
*Experience in the use of PHP programming
*ITIL V2 or V3 Qualification
*Faststats Database building or similar
